Areas of Interest
Dr. Marunick has a dual specialty of prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics. Prosthodontics is a specialty of dentistry which deals with replacement of lost or missing hard tissue structures (teeth) inside the oral cavity with prostheses. i.e. crowns, bridges, partial dentures and complete dentures, conventional and implant retained. Maxillofacial prosthetics is a subspecialty of prosthodontics that deals with replacement of lost or missing significant hard and soft tissue structures inside the oral cavity and outside the oral cavity in the head and neck region with prostheses. These prostheses include hard palate obturators to replace the roof of the mouth following cancer surgery, soft palate speech aid prostheses for rehabilitation following resection of the soft palate, palatal lift prostheses for patients with velopharyngeal incompetency, palatal augmentation prostheses to restore patients who have had resections of their tongue and/or reconstruction with a flap, and other specialized intraoral prostheses for patients following treatment of head and neck cancer, trauma, cleft palate and other congenital defects. He also fabricates facial prostheses for the nose, ear and orbital regions for patients following trauma and/or cancer resections.

He has a special interest in the functional rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients, and rehabilitation of edentulous patients who are anatomically challenged requiring implants for retention of their prostheses.
